Summary: excelent combination of gadgets
Comment: I choose this phone because I was tired carrying an mp3 player, a palm TX and a cellphone. I found this great phone very useful and lighter (despite its 130 grs). I have to say that navigation over menu's it is not as fast as iPhone but if you disable some "fancy" features you can speed menu's.
I felt confortable with its keyboard although I get caught the first time I used it. Camera's autofocus is little bit slow but picture and video quality are very good from my point of view. I also found very interesting the possibility of use Blackberry service with it. Unfortunatelly download emails using wifi connection was pretty disapoiting. I still have not foung the best configuration. I think this phone is a good choice when you turn from stylus' type hanheld to a smart phone. hope you find this review usefull.

Summary: The best
Comment: Is the best phone. It can manage many tasks at the same time, while you browse the web it also works like a phone. The Task manager gives you short cuts to all the open programs without any conflict. Very good. I love Symbian and SonyEricsson.

Summary: Improved with the Latest OS Upgrade
Comment: General: I have now had this phone for 18 months, and although not perfect, it is the best phone or even PDA that I have used. I am pretty hard on PDA's and break them in about a year - so far so good with this phone. It is unlocked and I run it on T-Mobile pay as you go (very cheap and as good as AT&T for service here in Indiana). Initially, the phone would occasionally drain its battery after only an hour or two. I discovered that using Swiss Manager to close running applications was a good work around to prevent this. Recently, I upgraded the operating system to the latest version, and it seems to have corrected this issue. I have had no other stability issues. The screen can be seen in sunlight, but I would like if it were a bit larger in size. Battery life depends on closeness to a cell tower and as I am in a fringe area, I only get about 3 days before I run out of juice (using it a few minutes per day). Running the music player, I get about 5 hours, but the camera will drain the battery in an hour or two!

Software: Software to edit Microsoft Word documents and spreadsheets comes included. The included calendar, alarm clock and address book are a bit more versatile than those found with the Palm OS. There is lots of software available for this phone [..]. I have installed the Big Encyclopedia that runs on Mobipocket, but it is apparently to big to install automatically the usual way, so I used the Media Manager to install it on a memory card. I have also installed a dictionary, a password manager and a better calculator than comes with it. I also recommend Swiss Manager when you need a more powerful file manager.

Keyboard: I like it. There is also a touch screen keyboard that can be used.

Camera: Outdoors it takes 3 Meg pictures that look as if they came from a dedicated digital camera, although they look a bit better re-sized to 2 Meg size. Indoors the results are very noisy and good only if you are desperate.

Other: The phone uses a Sony connector for headphones, but cheap adapters for a standard stereo plug are available. The CPU runs a little slow for the demands of the phone, so sometimes there is a little wait to load software. As with other phones, the FM radio needs the headphones attached to act as an antenna, but then reception is good. Unfortunately, Sony uses their micro-MemoryStick (which is hard to find) instead of an SD card.

Summary: my thumbs are saved
Comment: Over a decade ago I started using a Palm Pilot. In the beginning of 2007 the University I work for decided to no longer provide cell phones. I ended up signing up with T-Mobile and got their Dash hoping that I would pick up typing with little keys quick enough. After a few months trying to deal with the little keyboard and having the volume strip on the side of the Dash never actually work well; I ended up still carrying around my Sony Clie, a decent digital camera, and the Dash. I really didn't like the look of the "bat-belt" hung with devices. When I dropped my clie for the last time (screen fractured), I had the excuse to look around a second time. I really liked the P1i because it actually has a decent camera, has a touch screen that I can use for putting in letters instead of typing, really great resolution on the screen (something Sony really does well), and the reviews I read said it worked well with the T-Mobile system.

It does more than I expected (FM Radio for instance), the dual letter keyboard works pretty well, and the handwriting recognition saves my poor thumbs! There are some less than intuitive quirks about it, for instance the notes are listed in order of creation instead of alphabetically, the handwriting recognition is a little different (periods and the letter "A" are not the same), and I wish I could define a few more shortcuts, but overall I am extremely pleased. I have had to switch from the Plam Desktop to Outlook, but I can survive that.

I think I made the right decision, and recommend it to others.
